Q. Can you insure a laundromat when there are apartments in the building?

A. We can insure a Laundromat when there are apartments in the building, but there are certain guidelines we have to go by:

              a). Age and construction of the building have to meet certain guidelines.

              b). There is no building coverage, and you cannot be the owner of the building.

              c). No coverage is offered for laundry rooms in apartment complexes/hotels.

Q. What does Tenant Legal Liability mean?

A. Only applies if you are the tenant, (not owner) of the Laundromat, and is coverage for damage done to the building due to your business operations, (example: dryer fire damages walls, roof, etc.). The money is payable to the landlord/owner to repair those damages done to their building.

Q. Do you insure a laundromat with tanning beds?

A. At this time we do not have a carrier that will take new accounts with the tanning bed exposures.

Q. Does the policy provide glass coverage?

A. All of our policies include both external and internal glass, subject to a separate deductible.

Q. What does the General Liability cover, and does it include my employees?

A. General Liability covers property damage, and bodily injury which is caused by your business operations. For example: if you lose or damage someone’s clothes, which were left in your care, custody or control (not self-service), you become liable, and your insurance covers that expense.

If a customer gets injured in your Laundromat, due to your negligence in maintaining the premises, or someone files a lawsuit against you, the general liability covers the cost of legal defense, or medical expenses which you incur.

General Liability does not cover injury to your employees, or yourself! Those types of claims would be covered under a Worker’s Compensation policy.

 

Q. Will the premium be reduced if I have monitored security alarms or video surveillance?

A. There is some credit given for having either or both of these. There is no set percentage, but it varies by location and size of the Laundromat.
